Bloom & Wild continues to flourish, having acquired French rival Bergamotte and securing its lead as one of the largest #online flower delivery businesses in #Europe. The deal strengthens the British startup's expansion across Europe with its combined business aiming to ship 11 million bouquets this year and branch into the growing market for plant deliveries.
In 2021, Bloom & Wild raised Series D funding and acquired Dutch online florist Bloomon in April. The deal with Paris-based Bergamotte will quadruple sales in France, with total revenue now expected to top $277 million (£200 million) this year, according to Bloom & Wild founder and Chief Executive Aron Gelbard.
Over the years, we've worked many innovative and exciting companies like Bloom and Wild. It's always a pleasure seeing these companies thrive. The Detail Group Limited (TDG) completed an operational due diligence exercise of Bloom & Wild, for Piper Private Equity, ahead of Bloom & Wild's Series C investment round.
Rory Gibbs, Piper’s Investment Director, said, "There is a great sense of momentum that comes with investing in a business, so the immediate aftermath can be the best time to implement changes. There is a sense of: “Here is the #duediligence – there are 5-10 things we all agreed need to be improved, so let's do that now".
TDG's project scope was to assess and report on #operational and #commercial aspects of the Bloom & Wild business, such as #supplychain, operational risk and readiness for scaling. Critical work providing intelligent insight from which Bloom & Wild could build.
Employing a creative, data-driven approach, TDG conducted individual interviews with the Bloom & Wild team, analysing its operational KPIs, contracts and supply chain in detail. TDG provided a comprehensive #riskassessment with suggested management strategies and action-oriented next steps to drive business value.
The project identified Bloom & Wild's key strengths, and its team has gone on to build on these results to achieve the great success we see now.
TDG's founder, Andy Birley, said, "our work showed Bloom & Wild had a robust and innovative supply chain and suitable commercial agreements. Operationally the business was in good shape and scalable. We've seen that companies with robust operations have been successful or have fought off potential losses during Covid-19, and Bloom & Wild has certainly flourished during this time."
At The Detail Group we support investors, founders and businesses, assessing, improving and solidifying core business and supply chain functions, enabling them to drive value via operational and commercial improvement.
